Nominations being accepted up until December 1st 2012
As the Member of Parliament for Mississauga East-Cooksville, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that my office is now accepting nominations for the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, which will recognize 60,000 Canadians across the country for outstanding contributions to society through their service and achievements.
The Queen’s Diamond jubilee Medal will mark the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the Throne, an occasion celebrated only once before by Queen Victoria in 1897.
My office will be accepting nominations up until December 1st 2012, and I would like to encourage you to nominate eligible candidates in your community, who you believe deserve this honour.
Listed below you will find criteria for those who wish to be nominated, and a nomination form which should be submitted to my office by email, fax or mail.
Eligibility Criteria for Nominations for The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, but need not necessarily reside in Canada
- Must have made a significant contribution to a particular province, territory, region or community within Canada, or an achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada.
- Must be alive on February 6th 2012, the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s accession to the Throne. The medal can be awarded posthumously, as long as the recipient was alive on that date.
Please do not hesitate to contact my office should you have any questions or concerns about the nomination process. I look forward to learning about the many exceptional constituents we have in Mississauga East-Cooksville as I review your submissions.
Warmest Regards,
Wladyslaw Lizon, MP
